Artist Statement
Eser Epözdemir’s multidisciplinary practice probes the ways in which ‘things’ relate to one another, relationality, and the formation of correlation between the individual and environment. The artist focuses on cultural heritage, mechanisms of functioning, systemic change, inclusion /equality /indifference, and empathy/apathy. Architectural elements, historical & geological references, and concepts like emptiness/fullness are prominent in her work. Her implicit approach draws circles around the untold narratives.
She ponders about the media of site-specific installations, interventions, drawing, photography, and video. At the intersection of her artist and cultural producer/art accessibility consultant hats, Epözdemir is interested in creating audio descriptions for artworks and the artistic potential of ‘translating’ visual imagery into verbal descriptions.
